Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) includes equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) and hippotherapy. Equine therapy is led by a licensed therapist and is considered therapy. EAP must be led by a licensed mental health practitioner (social worker, marriage/family/addiction counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist). Hippotherapy must be provided by an occupation therapist, physical therapist, or speech therapist.
